Sue Viljoen

About Sue

Sue is a warm, compassionate and insightful psychotherapist and counsellor, who brings broad experience across private psychiatric and clinical practice in both hospital and private settings.

Sue takes pride in building a relationship that ensures clients feel respected, understood, validated, and empowered through their journey.

Central to her approach is the belief that therapy should be a collaborative process, with extensive experience providing both individual therapeutic support and facilitating group inpatient and outpatient programs at Northern Beaches Hospital.

Providing a supportive, non-judgemental space for clients to heal, grow and reconnect with themselves, Sue meets clients exactly where they are — using clear communication to talk together and help make sense of life when it has become confusing, problematic and perplexing to move forward meaningfully.

Sue's Approach

Sue works together collaboratively with clients to support their building self-awareness and self- efficacy through working with thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

With a specific interest in working with clients to identify underlying causes of relational difficulties and life struggles, Sue aims to help clients build skills and learn strategies to reduce reliance on unhelpful coping mechanisms.

Sue provides a supportive environment for clients to work on building healthy coping strategies that will contribute to long-lasting positive outcomes.

By working holistically with an understanding of both psychological and physiological processes, a supportive space is provided to allow for focus on clients’ physical, emotional, social and spiritual well-being.
