Areas of Support
How Sue can help you?
Anxiety and Stress
Panic attacks, generalised worry, and stress management
Counselling and therapy can help with anxiety and stress by identifying the root causes of your worries and equipping you with practical, evidence-based tools. Whether you’re suffering from panic attacks, obsessive or intrusive thoughts, unrelenting worries or incapacitating fear, anxiety therapy can help you uncover the underlying causes of your worries and fears.
Through a collaborative process, you can learn to manage your physical responses, break negative thinking patterns, and build long-term emotional resilience. Successful goals of the therapy journey often include learning to relax, viewing situations in new less frightening ways, and developing better coping and problem-solving skills.
Relationships
breakdown, betrayal, interpersonal and parenting issues
Relationship therapy provides a neutral, structured environment to address conflict, rebuild trust, and improve emotional connection. Instead of assigning blame, the focus of therapy is the dynamics between individuals to change unhelpful patterns.
Supportive and compassionate guidance can be helpful when couples feel disconnected, stuck in repetative arguments, or considering separation.
Through an integrated approach, it is possible to identify negative communication cycles and help partners express underlying vulnerabilities to rebuild secure emotional bonds.
Therapy helps couples navigate the crisis of betrayal – whether through infidelity, financial deception, or broken promises. Interpersonal conflicts can occur between friends, family members, or colleagues due to poor boundaries, personality clashes, or unresolved past issues.
Trauma and Grief
Bereavement, trauma, and major life transitions
The aim of each therapy session is to provide a safe, structured space. Within this framework of safety and trust, it is possible to process painful emotions, regulate your nervous system, and develop healthy ways to manage more effectively. Using the tools of therapy, you will be guided and supported to safely integrate your experiences, reframe negative thoughts, and rebuild a sense of control over your life.
Trauma can overwhelm your nervous system, leaving you stuck in the “fight, flight, freeze” stress response. Therapy helps by addressing both the physical and the psychological impacts of a traumatic event.
Counselling support can be helpful in preventing acute grief from turning into prolonged or “complicated” grief. Tools such as narrative therapy, meaning reconstruction, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and CBT can offer clients experiencing the significant losses often associated with major life transitions.
When a loss is sudden, violent or frieghtening, trauma and grief often happen together. In these situations, it is often most effective to combine somatic therapies for physical symptoms with CBT for avoidance, and grief-focused approaches to process the memory and loss.
